These Terms of Use apply to the OmniScout app ("the App"), the capitalhighrobotics.us website, including its capitalhighrobotics.us address ("the Website"), and the team's internal Inventory Manager ("the IMS"), together "our services." By using any of these, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
The App, the Website, and the IMS are independent, unofficial resources created by Douglas Matheny / Capital High Robotics. None of them is sponsored by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF), Innovation First, Inc., AndyMark, Pitsco Education, or any other robotics hardware or competition brand referenced in any of them. VEX®, VEX IQ®, VEXnet®, VEXcode®, VEXos®, and any other third-party names, logos, or trademarks that appear in game manual content, parts catalog data, or elsewhere are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the games, hardware, teams, and organizations these services are companions to.
The App displays game manuals, field diagrams, Q&A, and a scoring calculator sourced from RECF's own public website. We make a reasonable effort to keep this current and accurately presented, but RECF's own published materials at games.recf.org, recf.org, and kb.roboticseducation.org are always the authoritative source. If anything in the App ever conflicts with RECF's official published rules, the official rules control. Never rely on the App alone for a ruling that matters at an event.
All team notes, ratings, and photos you enter into the App are your own responsibility to back up. The App provides an export/backup feature; use it. We are not responsible for data loss from device failure, app uninstalls, or OS-level storage clearing.
The App links to and loads content directly from RECF's own site and PDFs. We don't control that content and aren't responsible for its availability, accuracy beyond our reasonable efforts above, or RECF's own terms.
The Website displays our own event schedule, news, team info, and funding/sponsor content, which we maintain ourselves. We make a reasonable effort to keep this current and accurate, but treat it as informational only, and confirm anything that matters, especially event logistics, directly with RECF or the event host rather than relying on the Website alone.
The Support Us page links to PayPal for anyone who wishes to donate to the program. Any donation is made directly through PayPal, under PayPal's own terms, and is voluntary. Donating does not create any additional obligation on our part beyond using the funds to support the robotics program as described on the Website.
The Website links to and loads resources from third parties including RECF, Google Fonts, cdnjs, Google Sheets, a third-party hit-counter service, PayPal, Instagram, YouTube, and GitHub. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or their own terms. Using them is subject to their own policies.
We want the Website to be usable by everyone, including visitors using screen readers or other assistive technology. Because this site represents a program of a public school, the U.S. Department of Justice's ADA Title II rule may be relevant: it requires public school districts' websites and mobile apps to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard, on a phased timeline (public entities have until April 2027 or April 2028 to comply, depending on district population, per the DOJ's 2026 extension). If you encounter a page or feature that isn't accessible to you, contact us using the info below and we'll work to fix it.
The IMS is private and login-restricted. It is not intended for public use, and accessing or attempting to access it without an authorized account is prohibited. Accounts are issued by an administrator to team members, coaches, and mentors only.
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for anything done under your account. Don't share your password or let someone else use your session. Tell an administrator right away if you think your account has been compromised.
Inventory counts, order records, and usage logs in the IMS are only as accurate as what team members enter, and they exist for the team's own internal organization. They are not an official record for any purpose outside the Program, and we make no guarantee that the data is complete or current at any given moment.
In addition to the Acceptable Use rules below, don't attempt to bypass IMS authentication, access another user's account without permission, probe or exploit administrator-only tools, or use the IMS in any way that could damage or disrupt the underlying database or hosting infrastructure.
The App, the Website, and the IMS are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Robotics competitions involve physical hardware, live scoring decisions, and real event logistics; you are responsible for verifying anything any of these services shows you against official sources before relying on it in a way that matters.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Douglas Matheny / Capital High Robotics is not liable for any damages of any kind, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App, the Website, or the IMS, including but not limited to lost scouting data, missed events due to a notification not firing or a schedule page being out of date, lost or inaccurate inventory data, or reliance on outdated or inaccurate content.
Don't use the App, the Website, or the IMS to violate RECF's Code of Conduct, harass other teams, misuse scouting data about other teams in bad faith, or attempt to interfere with, scrape abusively, or misuse the Website's or IMS's infrastructure (including the public data feeds and hit-counter service the Website relies on). Scouting is a normal, accepted part of competitive robotics, so be a good sport about it.
We may discontinue, suspend, or change all or part of the App, the Website, or the IMS at any time, for any reason, without notice. You may stop using any of them at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive ending your use of our services (No Warranty, Limitation of Liability, Not Affiliated, Your Own Data) continue to apply after you stop using them.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of West Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Kanawha County, West Virginia.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App, the Website, and the IMS, and replace any earlier versions.
These terms may be updated from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the App, the Website, or the IMS after a change means you accept the revised terms.
